It's been forever and a day since I wrote an article here on neilsattin.com - and it's good to be back. I've been working on all sorts of new content and a podcast (Relationship Alive!). Along with opening up a few slots in my one-on-one coaching program, I am also...

And my star is born

Last year, during these very hours (January 23rd), my wife went full-on into labor.  We visited the midwife, did some last-minute grocery shopping, and came home to chill out (as best as our Hypnobirthing techniques enabled us to do).  By three in the morning on...

The Blessing of a Busted Laptop Computer

For the past four months, I've pretty much lived with my laptop computer at my side.  The internet is just a couple clicks away at any moment, which has made blogging (and keeping in touch with the world) relatively easy.  Any time I have a spare second - on with the...

Personal Development: What Snowstorms Teach Us about Overcoming Procrastination

The first snowstorm of the year is always exciting, especially when it arrives in the middle of the night, and we wake up to a world that looks totally different than it did mere hours before. Then reality sets in: how to MOVE all that snow? That’s what I’m thinking about right now, as I type this post. And I just realized that shoveling snow is about more than shoveling snow. It’s about procrastination, and the way we wrestle with everything we want to accomplish in our lives. Just as there are many different options for getting the snow off your driveway, there are many ways to overcome the influence of procrastination in your life. Imagine that the “things you want to get done” in your life is like having a driveway full of that white stuff. And more is coming down. The beauty is that any way you approach it, you will clear your driveway. Grab your earmuffs and read on (for a more direct discussion on overcoming procrastination, you can also check out this article by K. Stone on lifehack.org) !

Hypnobirthing: What a great way to arrive

I don't think I'll ever forget the way I felt when we saw the word "pregnant" flash on the digital readout of the pregnancy test.  My wife was only a few days "late" - so it was really a lark (or maybe a hunch) that propelled us to the local pharmacy to pick up a few...

  • Helpful and thoughtful relationship advice
March 9, 2019 by Jcm451 from United States

I have been married for over 10 years and I had my own counselor for a while. I have listened to two and half of these podcasts and they were so helpful in helping me think through my own commitment and approach to the marriage. I thought Neil brought up a good point about having your own counseling and how that can sometimes shift the focus from the relationship to just yourself. I felt my counselor did a great job but it wasn’t about my marriage it was more about me so I am happy to find these podcasts to help bring the focus back to my relationship. I am looking forward to you listening to more updates and I am grateful that Neil has created a series and is sharing it with the rest of us.

  • Relationship therapist in a podcast
February 18, 2019 by Lee Zebra from United States

I’ve been a frequent listener of this podcast for some time now, and am very grateful for it’s existence. The wisdom and knowledge this podcast holds for anyone who is trying to make sense of the complexities within relationships between self/other has helped me tremendously in terms of my own self awareness and the overall health of my relationship. Neil is an excellent host and interviewer, and has invited a wide array of experts to share their knowledge. I have gotten so much out of these podcasts and think it’s the best podcast out there in terms of relationship guidance.

  • Very relevant and valuable but...

This podcast was recommended to me by my therapist. So far, I really like what I’ve heard and the topics have been very helpful to me. The one criticism I have and why I’m giving the podcast 4 stars is the occasional profanity requiring I have to allow explicit in my iPhone restrictions. I know many are ok with profanity and it makes it “real” for them, but for me, it is abrasive to the ears and I wouldn’t expect it in a great podcast like this.
